Malmbanan, The Iron Ore Line, runs between Boden and Riksgränsen. At Riksgränsen it connects to the Norwegian Ofotenbanan and continues down to Narvik.
ERTMS on Malmbanan will cover Riksgränsen–Boden including Kiruna–Svappavaara and Gällivare–Koskullskulle,
Starting date for Malmbanan including preparatory work was in May 2019.
Deployment of the new signalling system on Malmbanan will take place from May to September 2024 in six stages. By then Riksgränsen–Gällivare will be connected.
The last part, Boden–Luleå, is planned in 2029. Boden–Luleå is not yet financed in the long term national infrastructure plan.
