E20 Götene–Mariestad
The E20 is to be remodelled with a central barrier from the present motorway section at Götene in the west to just west of the Haggården interchange at Mariestad.
The reconstruction of the section E20 Götene–Mariestad will begin at the current motorway section in Götene and will end west of Haggården interchange in Mariestad.
The road will be rebuilt with 2+2 lanes where opposite lanes are separated by a central barrier. An overpass is being planned at Lugnås interchange.
All existing roads connected to the old E20 will run above or under the new E20. The old E20 will remain for local traffic and the width will be decreased to 9 meters.
The plan proposal is under development and a consultation was held in 2020 where the public were free to leave comments on the proposal.
The project are financed through the Swedish national plan for infrastructure.
